A Forensic Neuropsychologist In Los Angeles Identifies The Guilty Party For Court System

By Marci Glover

A forensic expert can be provided to assist in proving innocence or guilt for prosecuting or defense attorneys. People can lie and get away with it in front of a jury if they are believable. But, DNA and other concrete evidence presented by a forensic neuropsychologist in Los Angeles cannot be disputed.

Modern day forensic scientists test blood samples, semen samples and all trace elements for the truth. With blood shed at a murder scene, it will always remain to attest to what took place. If the accused left tire tracks or footprints in mud at the scene, they can be proven to match specific tires or the soles of shoes.

There may be many such shoes in the same size worn by many people. However, each person has an individualized wear pattern and the sole will reveal that if compared to another pair owned and worn by the suspect. The same is often true of tires.

Weeds or wildflowers can become trapped in the undercarriage of a vehicle. If it is a type that grows exclusively in just a few places, the owner can be placed at the scene of the crime. Perhaps the body was left in a meadow and tire tracks and weeds both indicate a car was there.

The police can get a search warrant for a car if there is a good reason to suspect the owner. The interior and the trunk may have blood evidence. Blood can always be detected by using a substance called Luminol. When sprayed on a surface it illuminates the blood evidence.

Experts can match blood to a murder suspect, the deceased or a pet dog. Other forensic experts specialize in gunshot residue and identifying which gun a bullet was shot from. They can determine the position of the shooter and victim at the time the bullet entered the body or a nearby wall.

Blood type can be identified when it is extracted from the bone marrow of a skeleton. The skeleton can indicate age, gender and ethnicity of the victim. Any dental work or surgical repair to a broken bone can help to identify the victim when matched to known records.

A neuropsychologist is able to analyze brain damage and how it affects behavior. A brain scan will show which area of the brain is damaged. This can show whether or not a suspect is legally competent to participate in his or her own defense. This valuable evidence may relieve a suspect of responsibility for abberent behavior.

Among the services provided by this highly-educated scientist are testifying in court as an expert witness, doing neuropsychological evaluations, reviewing cases, conducting medical evaluations and private consultation as an attorney prepares a case. The creation of a customized brain animation is a pictorial representation of what happened. A non-scientist can often gain a clearer understanding of the relevant facts when able to view this visual presentation.

It labels the areas in the brain responsible for speech, memory and other functions. Seeing any abnormalities helps the jury, the judge and those in the courtroom to comprehend the facts. A picture can certainly be worth a thousand words.
