Distribution Of Florida Tropical Plants

By Iva Cannon

Various plants usually grow under different climatic conditions. The climatic requirements usually vary from one plant to another. For instance some of them prefer a swampy form of environment. This is because they have special adaptations to the various environments they grow in. This is why it is important to look at the Florida tropical plants.

Florida has a wide range of plant species. Their distribution is influenced by certain factors observed in different areas. Features of the earth vary from one region to another. This will dictate the types or species of flora that will grow in a given area at a given time. The features on the earth surface and how it is constituted affects how various species are distributed in a given region. Some flora prefers low lands while others grow well in high lands. They possess features that enable them to live in such conditions.

The soil type and its nutrient constitution also determine the distribution of different flora types in tropical areas. The soils required by the flora vary in type, texture and aeration. Some grow well in silt soil while others in loam-silt soil. This implies that soil is an important aspect as far as distribution of plants in tropical areas is concerned. This is brought about by variation in minerals endowment by different types of soil.

Geology is also crucial in determining how diversified the various species of flora are. It looks at the solid earth and the rocks from which they emanate from. Various decomposition processes brings about different features on the earth surface. Diversity in the constitution of decomposed rocks brings about diversification in distribution of various plant species.

The type and amount of rainfall is crucial for growth of plants. Each geographical region is endowed differently in terms of the amount of rain it receives. This influences what will grow in that region. This is because rain requirement varies from one plant to another. There are plant species that need a lot of rain while there are others that require very little rain for their growth and thus this flora will be found in different areas.

Some flora species are seasonal. Their distribution is thus influenced by this. Some flora usually shed the leaves during certain times of the year. Growth of those types of flora takes part at different times of the year depending on the season. Their distribution is thus influenced by seasons for instance summer.

These diversities shape how the Florida natural communities are. From the hard wood forests to Rockland pine and scrub of the peninsula. There exist a very large variety of different plant species. Their temperature requirements vary from one plant type to another. They thus tend to grow where they find temperature conducive for their growth and development.

Tropical areas are thus endowed with vast species of flora. Some of them are sold in the market as seedlings. One should consider their adaptation before purchasing them. One should seek advice from relatives and experts who are a great source of help in choosing what plant to purchase.
